What Is Open University?

Open University (Open U) makes it possible for people who are not currently admitted to ÐÔÊӽ紫ý to enroll in university courses on a space-available basis. 

You can take courses in Fall, Spring, Winter or Summer terms for credit, personal enrichment or career advancement without the formal university admission process.

Turning Classes Into Credits

Classes taken through Open University at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý are included in your official ÐÔÊӽ紫ý academic record. Up to 24 units of credit taken through Open University may be applied towards a baccalaureate degree at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý.

Courses offered through Open University may transfer to other institutions, but credit assignment would be dependent on the other institution's transfer credit regulations.

How Do I Enroll in Classes Through Open University?

    1. Choose a class by browsing the class schedule.
    2. Obtain email approval from the instructor and save it as a PDF to upload with your enrollment form.
    3. Fill out the enrollment form through Unihub. 
    4. Wait for enrollment. You will be officially enrolled on the first day of instruction. (Note: You cannot be enrolled before the first day of the semester/session.)
    5. After you’re enrolled, you’ll receive an email with next steps. Once enrolled in your class, you’ll have 4 business days to make your payment in OASIS.

    How Much Does Open University Cost? 

    The registration fee is $300 per unit plus a $39 per semester campus fee and any additional course or lab fees (if applicable). This fee applies to everyone, whether or not you are a California resident.
