SEASIDE, Ca., November 6, 2019 – California State University Monterey Bay’s (ÐÔÊӽ紫ý) Salinas Center for Arts and Culture launched the “ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Honors Veterans” exhibition today at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý at Salinas City Center with a grand opening event from 6-8 p.m.
The exhibition honors local veterans, Fort Ord alumni and the ongoing connection with ÐÔÊӽ紫ý student veterans during the 25th anniversary of ÐÔÊӽ紫ý’s campus and will be open to the public until January 12, 2020.
The exhibit, featuring Fort Ord historical photographs and veteran-created artwork, is the first in a veteran-inspired series, celebrating ÐÔÊӽ紫ý military veteran and active military student, faculty, staff and military dependents.
The goal is for this exhibit to be the first in a series of exhibits honoring Veterans. This exhibit highlights local veterans that have a special connection to Fort Ord and several who are also connected to ÐÔÊӽ紫ý. The hope is to honor some important Fort Ord Alumni from our community and celebrate an ongoing connection with ÐÔÊӽ紫ý student veterans during the 25th anniversary year of our campus."— ÐÔÊӽ紫ý veteran services coordinator, Giselle Young
The exhibition is a collaborative effort between ÐÔÊӽ紫ý student veterans service coordinator Giselle Young, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý alumna Ana Eckhart, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Service Learning associate director Andrea Monroe and ÐÔÊӽ紫ý’s director for the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Center for Arts and Culture, Enid Ryce.
